Overview
A Yard Printer is a second printer that receives a copy of a receipt or a customer order/packing slip. Use it to send a copy of an in-store sale to another area, such as a service counter, loading dock or outdoor pickup spot, so staff there can start getting the order ready.
When you print a receipt with the Yard Printer box checked, a copy also prints at the yard printer.
Each register can have one yard printer.
Different registers can use different yard printers.
You can rename the yard printer to something your staff will recognize, such as “Loading Dock 1” or “Service Counter.”
Requirements
QZ Tray (free): Install QZ Tray on every computer that will print to a yard printer. Download it from qz.io/download. The browser needs QZ Tray to send print jobs straight to the printer.
Supported systems: Windows and macOS (both Intel and Apple Silicon Macs).
Printer access: The yard printer must be installed on, or reachable from, each computer that prints to it. If the computer can’t see the printer, the copy won’t print.
Installation notes
During installation, your computer will ask a few times for permission to make system changes and to trust QZ Tray’s security certificate. Choose Yes or Allow each time. These permissions are what let the browser send jobs directly to the printer.
