Installing the Utilities and Driver


  1. Run the CipherLAB 8200.exe and select extract.

  1. Plug the CipherLAB 8200 into an available USB port on the computer with the provided cable.

  2. Open My Computer (Windows XP) or Computer (Windows 7), Local Disk C: and then CipherLAB 8200.

  3. Open Step 1 Driver install and run the executable file located in this folder and click next on all of the default options.

  4. Right click on My Computer and select Manage.
  5. Click on Device Manager and then click the plus sign next to ports. Note the COM port number that shows up next to Silicon Labs CP210x USB to UART Bridge.



Installing the Application


  1. Open Step 2 Application install and run the AG_Load utility.

  2. Select the options below:

File Type: AGX files

File Name: Click Browse.. and select the basic inventory or inventory with lookup (Basic Inventoy only records the SKU and QTY. Invenotry with lookup displays the SKU, Desc, On-Hand and QTY but needs a lookup file import onto the device.

Download via: RS232/IrDA/USB VCOM

COM Port: Select the COM Port that you noted when installing the driver. Baud Rate: 115200 bps

  1. Now before clicking OK, first power on the CipherLAB 8200 and hit the number 3 Utilities then the number 6 Load Application on the keypad.



  1. Now click OK on the AG_Load utility and it should download the application and then just click OK once it's complete.



Installing the Lookup Tables


  1. Create a query in MicroBiz to create the Lookup Table. (See How to create a Query report)

  2. The query should look exactly like the screenshot below if done correctly. (The vendor and group options under "Edit Output Fields" are optional)


  1. Select run query, close out of the preview screen, click yes and then click no.

  2. Now open Step 3 Lookup Table folder and run DLookup.exe utility.

  3. Select the options below:

File Name: Click Browse.. and browse to the bizwin folder then select the QMF_TEMP.TXT file and click Open. 

Download via: RS232 or IrDA

COM Port: Select the COM Port that you noted earlier.

 Baud Rate: 115200 bps



  1. Now before you click OK, First power on the CipherLAB 8200 and hit the number 3 Utilities then the number 8 Load Lookup File on the keypad.




  1. Now click OK on the DLookup utility and it should download the lookup table and then just click OK once it's complete.
